I am new to this board and to letterboxing. I live in Greene county,
TN. Will be planting my first couple of boxes this week here in Greene
county.
A couple of questions - does anybody use power to carve their stamps??
I am not new to carving, but am new to carving such small detailed
pieces.
Any comments/suggestions??!!
thanks bertram

I have just recently learned about letterboxing. I have found it
fascinating and am anxious to get started. I was wondering if there
is a group of letterboxers in central PA who would be interested in
mentoring a newbie like myself. My husband has not found it as
interesting as I have so I am looking for others to start with before
I go out on my own. Any information would be helpful.
Thank you

Hi Goattrails, Welcome aboard. I'm sure letterboxers in Idaho are
happy to have a new member who hides as well as seeks. Just a
reminder to all newbies: Remember when posting your clues to the talk
list to put the state abbreviation in the subject line. "New ID
letterbox..." for example. This will greatly help people who are
searching for new letterbox clues. I live in Massachusetts, and with
the number of posts entered on this site, to save time I would just
pass by any new listings that are not in my geographical area.
Seeing the state abbreviation in the subject line is a great time
saver.

Hi,
I have posted my first 2 clues this week. I understand it takes some time
for them to get posted. Please tell me if I need to change anything I may be

Hi,
I am a new letterboxer or, rather, a pre-letterboxer as I have
neither placed nor found yet. So far, I'm just reading about it. I
want to thank Springchick for directing me to her "Getting Started"
page, the information presented answered just about all my
questions. Except---why is it against policy to place a letterbox in
a National Park? Letterboxing policy? US govt policy? Park Service
policy?
And, could someone tell me how to make contact with other
letterboxers in Summit County, Ohio?
Thanks, Katznstamper

Ah, a Katznstamper Kid! (Wow, did I just show my age!) National Parks have a policy against us planting letterboxers there. Other parks may well be free territory. Welcome to the hunt!

Ok im a newbie geocaching and would love to start letterboxing as well...... i am copying all the clues for the boxes in my city into a wordpad document and was don't see a place to "log" the find on the site am i missing something or is that not the way it is done with letterboxing?

On LbNA, when you have a list up from a search, do you see the little green flags to the right? Click on the green flag of the box that you've found, and you'll be able to log it.
Welcome!

if you register your name on LBNA you can click the right button nex to the
box to log your find, but as far as I know there is no way to see all your
finds together on a single page.
if you log them on atlasquest, you will be able to see boxes registered with
AQ unless you become a premium member($35/yr) and then you can track all
your finds, even non aq boxes.

There is a problem with copying all the clues into a wordpad document the clues may change, and your wordpad document wont be automatically updated. ALWAYS double-check the on-line clues before you head out for a particular letterbox, or the box you seek may not be where you look.

Hi Kim,
Both letterboxing.org and atlasquest.com allow you to do that. On letterboxing.org
, click on the green flag. After entering the date you found the
letterbox, you'll have an opportunity to send a private note to the
clue owner ("Contact the Placer"). On atlasquest.com, each clue page
has a Record Find button and there is a Record Find option under the
Letterbox menu. When recording a find on AQ, you have the option a
leaving a private or public message. The public message option is most
like the geocaching.com logging option.
BTW, you might want to join the Newboxers group: newboxers. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/newboxers/

As has been said, both sites allow you to "log" finds. However, you must be signed on to either site to use this function.

Hi-
I'm new to the site and new to letterboxing. I'm a girl scout leader, and our troop is going to try letterboxing at one of our Girl Scout camps.
I do know that one of our local parks has letterboxes on the trail, and i thought that would be great for my daughter & i to do ourselves.. Can anyone give me pointers as to what supplies we should have with us?
Thanks
