Eric,
I usually find all can use at local camera stores. A couple have a box
behind the counter with a bunch. If your area one's don't, then you might
order some bulk from a science supply company like Carolina Biological or
Forestry Suppliers and just sprinkle the beads in the bottom of the box or
ziplock bag. They turn pink when saturated and can be roasted back to health.

Try your drug store/pharmacy. Silica packets are quite often found in the
packaging of medication and medical supplies.

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. I'll check out the
various types of possible local suppliers and let you know what I
find. I'll volunteer to be the official silica tester and post my
experiences as they come in. I'll put some in the ziplocks and some
in the box itself to see what happens.
