EEEEEWWW

From: (davyschris@aol.com) | Date: 2006-05-29 21:49:03 UTC-04:00
Today, after a long romp through Hartman Park, I found a tick on my FACE! If
I didn't know for sure that I don't have a freckle right there, I wouldn't
have noticed it.

LOL, my wife pulled two deer ticks off me Saturday (one was
embedded)...I was last out 'boxing on Wed. AM, and I did check for
ticks afterwards. :p They are one of the hazards of 'boxing...it looks
like it could be a banner year for the little blood-thirsty arachnids.

I got horrible, horrible poison ivy in New Jersy at Easter. Worse than the PI that I got last year in Allentown. Guess I'd better get some of that Technu stuff people keep talking about... As for ticks, seems like they were out earlier this year. Or maybe it's just that I was out boxing earlier this year!

I did pick up a couple deer ticks on my jeans in early April, but
have not seen a little bloodsucker on my since. Sheba and I also
found one inside a hitchhiker (appropriately a dog HH) back in March
as well.

With the mild winter, it seems tick season hit early. Usually May is
serious tick weather in eastern PA. It tends to diminish as it gets
warmer around here.

You should probably get checked for lyme disease, since you have a rash from the bite. It is best caught in the early stages.

David:

I would "google" these two terms for comparative photos: "em rash"
and "poison ivy rash". Click on the top link for each search; great
pix. :p
If what you have is not poison ivy, then it may be Erythema Migrans
(EM) which is indicative of Lyme Disease (LD). Note Well: EM
doesn't always show up as a nice, neat, classic "bullseye rash", it
can resemble poison ivy. And it may not be at the bite site IF it
even shows up, some folx with LD don't get the rash. Don't mess with
LD it can be some serious shi-ite. A simple blood test can detect LD
but the Western Blot is more reliable.

Connfederate
(living in Connecticut, ground-zero for LD...)
