Your request for 5 patches is confirmed. I remember when the poll
first started that you had trouble entering a vote. Sorry I can't
help you with that technical glitch, nonetheless, your patch request
is noted and included.
I don't know if your interested in decals, but if you are, I suspect
you cannot participate in that poll either. Just let me know.
Thanks, Amanda!

patches
patches in different forms. Never to diminish the thrill of victory
but as a momento of a certain number of victories. As a way to start
a conversation, and expand the circle of letterboxing enthusiasts. I
think of girl and boy scouts with sashes of badges, it never
minimizes the need or value of first aid to have the badge declaring
you passed. Young people need all the encouragement to continue to
pursue the educational and healthy pass-time that brings them a new
sense of themselves and the boundries they have pursued and
conquered. I know my son will wear a count badge with the pride and
memory of every step taken in earning it. He'll remember the first
box, the deepest snow, the highest hill, the best stamp, the box he
did with friends and like a trip through a log book the memories
will come back just looking at it. So we should plan and be sure we
get what we want they are going to be very special for some. Thanks
for all the dialogue this is a wonderful forum for all of us to
learn and growq with our sport. Carol

I'll be in Portland June 23th ish, not gonna make it, I guess :-)
Back to the patches.
First of all, I'm glad Kay is doing this, and in the end, I
don't think it matters all that much if we get it exactly right,
or come up with a different design the second time around.
For me, I think I like the idea of the patches because it _will_
draw people in (esp kids) and keep their interest (US Orienteering
Federation does this for this reason), and other letterboxing groups
(that I know of anyway) do it, so its sort of a tradition thing, not
a numbers game (since no one is going to see them, probably -- the
numbers game is in the sig file :-)). I have a VQ patch already,
and would love a Dartmoor patch and LbNA patch someday. I guess
that's it.
Cheers,
