Hmmm....I kind of thought the purpose of the board was to have
conversations about letterboxes lost, letterboxes found, letterboxes
placed, harrowing encounters with all that Mother Nature has to throw
at us. Questions about P., X., F., etc. I asked too, not that many
months ago, and recieved a short polite explanation. Discussions of
carving materials and tools, containers, how to create microboxes,
whether it is allright to place boxes near exsisting boxes. Plans
for Gatherings, lamenting the losses of people like the famous
Vermont Viking. Rejoicing in our common bond as letterboxers, out
there on that elusive trail, seeking yet another wonderful stamp.
Conversations!! By the way, I don't subscribe to the e-mail option.
It is very managable to scroll through the messages on-line at the
board. State listings in subject title are such a help, but I still
read other interesting tales just for the heck of it.

Well said Elaine! I like this list the way it is. I enjoy hearing
about boxes in far away exotic places I'll likely never see and
sharing vicariously in the joy of a newbie's first find, first
hitchhiker, etc. If we see the same question 3 or 4 times a week so
what? As someone else said, it only takes a sentence or two to
answer them. I've been very happy to see so many newbies here
recently and I'm pained to think how many of them might have read the
rude comments and just left without our ever knowing they were here.
There's nothing to stop the unhappy folks from having their own
smaller groups if they wish - maybe a closed list for witty and
erudite veterans only if that's what they want - but I hope they
leave this list alone. Maybe we'll meet on the trail sometime. If
so, ask me if I've seen any exotic birds. You may be the first to
see my traveler.

I agree with Elaine and the Bigguy, I like the board the way it is. It is
helpful to list the State in the headline because sometimes I just delete
the States that aren't mine however, I am a fan of some posters from around
the country and look forward to reading some of their comments even if they
aren't from my particular state. I'd mention you by name but I would hate to
put pressure on you to continue to post witty and clever items on the board.
Besides if we broke up the board how would be keep up with the other States
and their gatherings?
Just my two cents.

I tried the email list for about a week and constantly felt
like I was drowning. Then I too switched to monitoring the
list online. What a relief! I agree with Elaine, it is easy
to scroll through the messages. The search feature works great
so it is easy to check to see if a question has already been
asked and answered. I would urge anyone who is having problems
with the volumn of email to try the list online for a few days.

Don't break up the board. That's my two cents worth..
