HELLO

From: nicholecherie2000 (NicholeCherie@juno.com) | Date: 2009-02-26 22:07:36 UTC
Hello, we are new to the site. I noticed that there hasn't been any
new post in some time. We just started letterboxing. I searched the LB
North America & Atlasquest websites & foud a few boxes in our area.
Does anyone know of any boxes in our area that may not have been on the
website? We are in Lake Jackson, S. of Houston.
I'm sure my family is going to have a great time searching for these
boxes for years to come.
Thanks

I don't know of any unlisted boxes near you. I do have a box called
Hummer of A Summer, but I don't think I've heard an update since Ike.

Welcome to letterboxing. This website has been quiet, but that
doesn't mean we can't chat if we're feeling up to it!

Letterboxes tend to accumulate around letterboxers and I don't think
there are many, if any, close to where you live, so you might have to
travel a bit to find them. Houston isn't too far and there are a lot
of good letterboxes there. You might want to plan a day trip just to
get started. Letterboxing is a great family activity.

I see that my Gordon Grouper 2 Letterbox was found recently, so I
guess it survived Ike. I think your family would also like Sea
Center TX, where this box is located, and it is free. If you can't
find some boxes, please notify the owners so they can be aware and
update status.
Thanks, and have fun!

Hi! and welcome!
I have two in the area but I haven't checked on their status lately.  One is at Bates Park in Angleton and one is at Clute's Park.  Let me know if you find them in good condition.

Thanks

Plus, once you get going, there's nothing any of us like better than a
local showing us the hidden treasures of their hometown. That's
really one of my favorite parts of letterboxing--all the little hidden
jewels of locations that I never knew were there.

We found the clues sheet for that one & 2 others in Quintana. We're hoping to get out this Sun. & hunt for them. I'll let you know if we find it. I do know that the park had some flooding & damage in the storm, but not as bad as Surfside, on the other side of the Intercoastal Canal.

Thanks

I'll keep that in mind.

Thanks

I did find the for Angleton. But I didn't find the clues for the one at Clute park when I did my search. I was thinking that would be a good place for one & people could look for them during the Great TX Mesquito Festival in Aug.  Where can I find those clues? We hope to have our 1st hunt this Sun.

Thanks
